Reviews
You can enjoy high-quality exhibits for free.
The gold-leafed stars on the ceiling of the mural look like they were pasted on with stickers, and you can feel the high level of skill of the people of Asuka.
Compared to Takamatsuzuka Tumulus, the way the exhibits were displayed was modern and easy to understand.
picture? Is it okay if it's free? It's such a wonderful facility.
Kitora Tumulus is the second tomb where wall paintings were discovered after Takamatsuzuka Tumulus, and it is clear that it is a very valuable tumulus from an archaeological perspective. It is a very nice facility that explains the Kitora Tumulus through various exhibits. This is an irresistible facility for history buffs. Although it is a little far from the tourist center of Asuka Village such as Ishibutai, please stop by and check out our facilities.
I saw it at the Kitakabe Genbu special exhibition in October 2013. They lent me opera glasses, and although the place is in good condition, I was very impressed to be able to see clearly. The exhibits inside the museum are also easy to understand.

I visited to coincide with a special exhibition of Genbu. The museum on the first basement floor, which you can walk into, has detailed explanations about the Kitora Tumulus, so if you enter before seeing the real thing, you'll gain some prior knowledge and enjoy the experience even more.
Today I was able to see Genbu, a national treasure mural, up close. The facial expressions, shell, and toes are so detailed that it's hard to believe it's 1,300 years old.
There was a time when it was easy to watch videos, but analog people still think it's important to see the real thing. A sense of reality right in front of your eyes! wonderful!
Although it is not possible to take pictures of the real thing, I am happy to say that you can take pictures of the replica of the exhibition hall.
Please visit without expecting too much.
Admission to the public is free, but advance reservations are required.
Photography is allowed on the basement floor, but photography is prohibited in special public areas. …
It was a new building and it was beautiful.
